After becoming impatient with how long it takes for wishes to be granted, you decide to grant your own wish and are promptly arrested for counterfeiting.

I wish to rule the galaxy as father and son.
Wha?
Oh...
Granted?
I guess...
I wish for a pile of money!

Granted. However, your still only human mind is unable to cope with the concept of being two separate entities at the same time, driving you to madness. You are forever known by the entire galaxy as the worst ruler in history.

I wish I knew what happened before the big bang.

Granted, you get a small pile of bills and change that add up to approximately $4.87 USD.
I wish for the internet in my dorm to stop causing me to lag on Minerealm, causing me to get blown up by invisible creepers, and making me lose my things!

Actually the most recent theory is that before the big bang, there was another universe, and when our universe reaches its maximum size, it will begin to rapidly contract, shrinking back to its original size at the time of the big bang (Btw, that's minute, a huge amount of energy was inside a single tiny space, and yes, it was a physical space)...

... Until it goes bang again and the whole cycle starts again.

But its personal opinion when its still a theory.

I thought that idea had been shot down? Something about the total mass of the universe being too big or too small to contract?

It's not totally disproved, although, it has been proved that not only is the universe expanding, its expanding at an accelerating rate (currently the force behind this is thought to be dark energy). This is not very supportive of the expanding/contracting/big bang/ rinse and repeat for all eternity model, however it still remains a slim possibility ;)

right, and a Fact: The Universe started inside your left shoe.

Yeah I think that's what I remember hearing. So now the popular model is that the universe is going to just expand forever, until everything just freezes at nearly absolute zero, right?

Actually, both of these are true. According to current knowledge of the universe, all of the dark energy contained within the universe causes a force great enough to overcome the combined gravitational force generated by the attraction of every particle of matter. This means that instead of the more intuitive model of the big bang, where the universe expands due to the outward momentum of the initial 'explosion', but slows down and starts to contract again due to gravity, until the entire process is repeated again and again, the dark energy causes the universe to continue expanding. This, like you said Prodigy, results in our universe 'ending' in a state of isolation and heat death. Unless there is something beyond the horizon of the observable universe that we don't know about, evidence currently supports this theory.
