Yeah, I think it would be a blast! It would be interesting if there were uninhabited small islands with like 2-3 block chunks that are "hard to get" like diamonds. But the islands would be rare.

By my interpretation, using the legitimately-built bridge is not allowed, since not-leaving-the-island is listed separately from "no mods/hacks/flying" (if they had been listed together, "do not leave the island by using mods/hacks/flying" then it would be allowable). Sorry

Hmmm... if you continue to build cobble under yourself while moving along, and as long as the bridge doesn't touch the mainland... I suppose that would be allowed!

You aren't leaving the island if you build a bridge to mainland. Alternatively you can think of it this way: If you "attach" the island to a larger island, it still remains an island.
