I'm no Brony, in fact, I have been more than transparent about my dislike for the whole excessive MLP fandom. I get that it's a pretty decent kids show, but I just don't get the hype. That being said, I am fairly outraged about the whole Derpy hooves thing. I liked Derpy and was really impressed that they not only kept this character around but actually acknowledged a disabled character on a kids program. All too often disabilities are swept under the rug in mass media, especially kids programming, and I believe that this is part of the problem. IF a child is exposed to something that is different it will become part of their "normal"; however, if a child is sheltered from these differences they won't know how to properly react to them when they do encounter them. The knee jerk reaction that I've always experienced is that for children and adults "different is bad". I have a good deal of personal experience with this given my sexual preference and being from the south. SO! That being said, shame on you Hasbro. You may have removed a bit of "risk" from the situation, but you have proved that you are just as bad as any of those parents who used to drop their children off at the asylum to let someone else take care of them outside of the public eye. Shame on you! Shame! SHAME!!!
