I can't believe it. They are trying to stop what you can't stop. They are trying to censor something that will always find a way around. There is this thing called a HACKER, Congress!

From a standpoint as an engineer, this is a complete futile attempt.

As soon as this happens, a dynamic switch from ISP directed domains to alternate DNS will occur. Effectively what happens is a "pirate net" becomes possible...I mean come on, there's already Tor. Further, the act only addresses TLD and DNS. This act seems to be a remodeled form of network neutrality.

More than likely..this is a red herring

EDIT: The real problem of this -- users who abandon their ISP's will suffer when sending credentials through any other net. As far as I know, this is one of the major problems that the technical society is concerned about.

I worry less about the userbase which, being dynamic, will be willing to change to get around the censorship, but more for American based web companies, which could be damaged beyond repair by being held accountable for user-created content. Unlike users, companies won't be able to get around the censorship and continue to do legitimate business.
