To be honest grand theft auto doesn't and hasn't ever interested.
I agree with the escapist's review of GTA V in that there is little motivation for being horrible to people and the consequences for being horrible to people don't really stack up.
I'll be annoyed if GTA V takes over TLoU for game of the year.

Car handling is way better than GTA IV, but I still manage to hit almost everything on the road when being chased -.-
Car-Bullet time is fun though.

I'm not a big fan of critics, but I think it says something when so many professional critics give a game a perfect score. I think people just like to attack triple A franchises because they are popular and are held in high regard. You won't see anyone complaining about Payday 2's graphics as much as GTA V. I don't trust anyone else's opinion as much as my own, but I think there will be an almost unanimous consensus that GTA V is a good/great to legendary game. And I don't understand the competition between games, they are not sports teams. If you like GTA cool if not cool if you like COD you can also like GTA lol there doesn't have to be a choice

Die and you loose a small hospital fee ($15 so far) and keep ammo.
Get caught by the cops and pay $300 bail and loose your ammo.

For the IGN scores, I don't think there was any chance they would give GTAV a lower than 10, because they gave GTAIV a 10/10. Assuming improvement actually occurred, they would have had a hard time not giving GTAV a 10/10.

Honestly, I think the thing that hurts TLoU's chances for GOTY is that it is a PSWhatever exclusive. The two games I see as in the running right now are Bioshock: Infinite, and GTAV.

That being said, the only game the really deserves GOTY for 2013 is obvious: Papers, Please.

Giving GTA V game of the year wouldn't be hard, lets be honest this years line up of games has been poor due to devs holding them off for next gen.
As it stands though, GTA is a little TOO familiar for my liking. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game so far, but its nothing new or innovative is it. It's like all the features that should have stayed from San Andreas to GTA IV!

IMO just cause 2 still holds the title of best sandbox mayhem game, but that's just my opinion.
