No. I think that wolves are perfectly fine not dropping anything. If they had to do something make the tame. I personally feel wolves shouldn't even been implemented.

Why? The lag can get bad, but only when you have 20+ in a small area. Other than that, I think they're a pretty fun addition.

Well they dont do ANYTHING. They are just... there. To me its a waste of my computers space to have them...

They aid in combat, some would argue it's reason enough to keep them. Zombies drop feathers, but chickens don't fight back. Should we get rid of zombies?

Oh yeah, I forgot they did that, but to me they are still a waste of space. Its not even up to us for none of us know/are notch or any of his assistants so, too bad. I doubt they will ever drop anything and will never do anything but aid in combat. Whoop de doo!

No, and just call it the Aether, it's well enough known that Aether is the sky dimension. There can be plenty of force behind wolves, though not on this forum. If you made a post on Wolrd Of Minecraft, or the Minecraft Forums, you may get more supporters.

I know right it's really annoying to see people just qoute senselessly and for no reason.
Also I don't see how you can think wolves are pointless cats, for one thing they just decimate all mobs in your path and they're a great protection while mining.
