Why can't Spike go to school?
He's homeschooled by Twilight, I assume.
Soo... Spike is taught by Twilight, by doing lots of chores.... like a domestic servant or .... Equestria supports Slavery!
I always kind of imagined since Spike accompanied Twilight ever since he was hatched, that since they spent a fair amount of time in Canterlot's centers of learning, that Spike would've learnt alongside Twilight.
Probably had access to some of Canterlot's finest tutors as well.
He demonstrates a knowledge of Canterlot in season 1, such as knowing Hoity Toity and even getting him to see Rarity's fashion show.
We don't know much about Twilight's time once she became Celestia's protege before she came to Ponyville, other than what is seen in the establishing scenes.
Spike initially comes across almost like a college buddy/roommate but also like a butler/domestic servant.
But normally the butler relationships we see are like in Batman, with Bruce Wayne and Alfred.
Where Alfred is more like a surrogate parental figure in addition to being older.
Twilight' dynamic with Spike is more like a mother and son.
There's also a sense of Twilight treating Spike like a pet, baby, servant but also at times as a friend.
Mentally compared to a human Spike seems to be anyway between an older child to a young teeenager, where as Twilight and the girls are more like mid teens, older teens or young adults.
