The definition of insanity: Performing the same action twice and expecting different results.
The definition of optimism: Performing the same action twice and expecting good results the second time, even if the first was a flop.
The definition of pessimism: Performing the same action twice and expecting bad results the second time, even if the first went well.
Therefore, to be optimistic or pessimistic means one is insane.
To be neither, one must be completely indifferent to everything. However, this requires a complete lack of emotions, making one a psychopath, who, by definition, is insane.
All people are either optimistic, pessimistic, or psychopaths. Therefore, all people are insane.
