Comes to a total of $980.91

You get a 6-core Processor at 3.2GHz, 8GB of RAM, a VERY nice motherboard, 1TB hard drive, 750W of power, A decent, crossfire-able graphics card, and a nice case.

This computer will have power to spare. And once the HD6870 comes down in price even more, you could buy a second one for cheap and Crossfire them. This works right up to $1000, But you could also build one that suited your needs for a fair bit less (~$700)

(This is based on my experience building my own desktop)
I think I'll go with this one. Thanks for the help guys! :)

For around 1k you could get a Alienware M11x they range from 900-1500 depending on the features you choose. I would recommend this for gaming (oblivion and such)
Gaming Laptops: Half the power, for twice the price. Not enough space for a decent (read: non-mobile) graphics card, not enough space for a decent cpu cooling mechanism, and generally difficult to upgrade due to compatability/space issues.

I'm sorry, but no laptop can compare to a well built desktop. For $900 you can build a desktop that will blow pretty much ANY laptop out of the water, performance wise.

Laptops have their place, but it is doing office work and casual gaming, not attempting to run recently released games with more than mediocre graphics. Not to mention, it's hard to find laptops with a 22.5" screen.

This. I've been burning up laptops by playing games and I would much rather have a desktop. I'm a bit nervous about playing Skyrim on my laptop now, seeing as my last laptop died after the video card melted the motherboard...
