Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to make my 100% mistproof and lock-in/out proof door.
In order to operate it, use outer lever too keep door shut. Flip lever to allow door to open, enter, and flip switch. Wait for night to pass. If all goes well, simply flip the switch back and leave, returning it to a shut-from-outside position. If someone has locked you in or you /home from it or something, the buttons work (And are disabled during mist, mind you) to shut down the system and open the door. It's pretty simple, but I use a modified version on a piston door, so it's open to modification and the like. This is the simplest, easiest model.
