Heck, Bu1ld0g is about as addicted as they come and he was bored yesterday :D
Keep in mind that you cannot connect to game.minerealm.com if your client is updated without first modifying your profile. I remember when the server was finally updated to 1.5.1. It was a massive noob fest. I hope you guys are all prepared for chat being spammed with "Where can I build"? and "I need food!" and my personal favorite "is this a fraction server?".

In short school happened and 1.7.2 happened.

Me personally, I'm waiting for the wipe as the last thing I want is to start a new build in anticipation of 1.7 terrain only to find I'm building in the ocean. AKA bored :D

TBH though I've seen a lot of players on this week so far compared to the meager 20ish of late.
It was around the 40 player mark when I jumped on after work today.

I've tried to get many different friends to come online and play on Minerealm and I get the same reactions from all of them. Too many rules, too strictly enforced. The cursing filter is usually a big turn off.

With that in mind, I play less because I can't convince any friends to stay on for longer than couple days.
"Survival" implies at least some element of anarchy that new people would expect, none of which exists here.
^This.

I mean, really? An application to purchase a realm? I thought this was a game, not an office-job simulator.

Minerealm (And all of Minecraft, for myself) has become so ludicrously boring and filled with...you know what, I can't even say because I'd probably be banned for hurting people's feelings or something.

I get that with a large server, you need to be pretty clear on the rules and have a fair amount of them to cover everything, and I love how easy it is to preserve our builds, but come on now. If someone doesn't log in for 30 days, their stuff should be up for grabs regardless of the purchaser's intent with the items. If someone is perma-banned, just disband their realms already! These are just two of the things I have a serious problem with with this server. That, and the swearing-filter.

I would say that there are many reasons that together makes this happen. One thing I had wished for when I was new to MineRealm (I hadnt even played much at servers at all at that time) was some kind of summary of the rules, its good that the signs at spawn says some of the basics but there should be a FAQ that sums it up and explains a bit more. I might have missed something, but I have spent a lot of time here at the forum and haven't seen any kind off "RuleBook" as far as I can remember.

Instead there are rule updates, discussions and so on. I think I now after like 11 months are starting to get most of it but there are still things that makes me confused sometimes.

What I mean is that getting to the point where you know the rules plus get "addicted" to MineRealm is a rocky road. Its easy to get banned for mistakes and if you are a noob, why bother with starting a forum account to write a ban appeal, that you dont even know will be accepted, its MUCH easier to just move on to another server.

With that said, I dont mean that its ok to let noobs destroy others work. But there are ways to solve this issue. (got a couple of ideas myself that would help I think =)

Another thing might be that vets gets permabanned, but thats in some way right even if it makes people leave, vets should know the rules better than that.

Another thing that made me leave for some time, and still annoys me really much, is the despawning of mobs and most of all; trained villagers. To put hours and days of work into something and then lose it all in a matter of seconds is not really motivating. (It was first after that I got info about the realm limit of mobs).

I like MineRealm, and I do it even more since I joined the best guild ever, and without them I personally would lost interest much easier.

MineRealm is a mix between Wild West and Soviet, which makes it hard to get sometimes.

Ahem, if you want to use coarse language just add all your friends to your buddy list and swear all you want in /b.
I actually like the swear filter, yes it may be restrictive but for once in a chat room I don't have to go through hundreds of swear words in every conversation.

I dont mind haveing more ppl play on this server, it would give the oportunity of new friendship and spiceing up the mood on the server.
But i would like to know how many player "realy" play on this server out of the 251,084 users who joined for at least one time...

Sorry if it sounds offensive or rude, but

Without some rules the server would fall into chaos, and the swearfilter not only prevents from som bad maners but also from spaming.

I play now for 2 years and i have no realm problems with the rules.
If new player come and are good player they will stay.
Joseph3114 wrote:"Survival" implies at least some element of anarchy
You can have "anarchy" on a lan game with your friends but on a server with hundreds of player it would be pure chaos.
Maybe you make your own server and call it "ChaosCraft" the only rule they have to remember there is "anarchy" and you have the bigges griefer ever on your server.

The servers i checked out sofar had even more rules than MineRealm and the server itself is way easyer to handl than others.

That would only give your permissions for looting...

In case of a perma-ban its not likely the person will come back, so the realms should disband with the ban.

I know that :/ maybe we implement a "first-spawn area" where all the rules are listed and the consequences of disobaying and you have to leave the area to be able to chat.

That would minimize Advertisespammer, OP-wanting noobs, etc...

Thats natural selection... every one was new to the server at one point and we still have player here.

Yeah I have thought of that as well. And before they are able to get to "normal /spawn" there should be some easy test to make sure they have read the rules. Like you dont find the tp to spawn if you havent read the info.
