Shouldn't the people of Canada be called Canadans (Can-a-dans) rather than Canadians? The country is called Canada, not Canadia.

Silly Americans, thinking everything should end in -an because they do.

China --> Chinese, Not Chinans
U.K --> British, not Englandans or United Kingdomans
Germany --> Germans, not Germanans
Spain --> Spaniards, not Spainans
Scotland --> Scots, not Scotlandans
New Zealand --> Well, I'm not really sure. Kiwis? Definitely not New Zealandans.

Canada --> Canadians. Also, in French, referred to as Canadiennes.

UK -> Brits or British, then subdivided as follows
Scotland -> Scots or Scottish or British not scotlandans
England -> English or British not englandans
Wales -> Welsh or British not walesans
