Hi all.

So, I just wanted to get your opinion on a build I'm doing. It's a simple, tiny build by MineRealmian standards, but it's one of the first not-hut, non-hole-in-the-wall builds that I've ever made. My previous attempt was pretty weird—many different types of block, strange shape, etc. So I'm trying to use what I've learned to become a decent builder, since I'm otherwise reduced to pointless PvP, sorting items, and mining out Jeff's realms.

Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

I'm keeping it relatively simple, and sticking to just a few types of blocks. Obviously, this is just the beginning, but I wanted to see if the builders of MineRealm had any advice for me.

There are a few creative decisions in particular that I wanted you folks' opinions on (although feel free to comment on anything you like as long as you're polite about it).

*I figured complete symmetry is boring and strange, so I put a fountain and two benches on the left, with a much smaller left side and a single bench. Was that a good idea?
*What do you think of my block choices? I figured Stone Brick (well, Monster Egg :/ but I didn't realize that until after a while), Stone Slabs, and Iron Bars would complement each other nicely. Meanwhile, I chose Oak Wood and Red Carpet (and, of course, water) to constrast with them—hopefully without clashing. I'm also thinking of utilizing Glowstone (as lamps) and Glass Panes for the main building, although I'm not decided yet.
*What do you think of my choice to place it several blocks above ground level via stair? It sets it apart from the surroundings rather easily, but I don't know exactly what effect it could have on the build in general. I'm not sure whether I should extend the main part of the build (this is the entrance to a building) down to ground level (even if only on the outside, with the actual first floor being on the same level as what I showed you) or whether I should keep it suspended in the air entirely.

Thanks for your help,

I find it charming and actually quite pleasing to look at; I assume, however, there will be something under it, and it won't be flying like that in the final version. The simple slab/stone brick combination is rather common, but you executed it nicely. The carpet does bother me a little, but mostly because there isn't carpet to cover stairs (yet?) so it just looks a bit odd.

And also, for future purposes of photographing builds at least, set it to peaceful to minimize background distractions and give it a good old F1 to hide the HUD. It helps direct focus more at the structure and not the million-some slimes occupying your creative world.

Just my opinion, mind you. I spend all my time building entirely out of cobble, glass, and stone brick, and the only 'beautiful' thing I've done is fill a field with a ton of poppies.

Not sure what to put there, but there's going to be something. If nothing else, I'll cover it with stone brick, although that seems a bit strange. I'll figure out something. EDIT: I don't think you can. How strange. I could swear I've seen carpeted stairs before...

I meant the game does not allow you to carpet stairs. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
It would be nice if they did, though.
