Are you two still running 10 year old PC's/OS's or something?

I have a laptop from last year with Windows 8.1 and it still updates almost every week... Age has nothing to do with it, they must just find it funny to make your computer update every few days.

Mine doesn't take that long to update, which was my point.
It also doesn't update every few days either.

To be fair, the regular updates for Windows are a good thing. They are fixing security flaws and bugs as they are discovered. It is better to have those on a regular basis. Windows has even pretty much standardized all of their release dates. The 2nd and 4th Tuedays of the month are the main days they do for noncritical updates, with special ones as needed.

That being said, I do prefer having it set to notify me but not install updates without me telling it to. It gives me more control over exactly when my computer is going to decide it needs to spend a while updating stuff.

Yeah thinking about it I think what dlgn was aiming at was the old "Your system will restart in 6 minutes", not it takes 6 minutes to update... my bad >.<

That said I haven't seen that method of updating since Windows XP.
I run 8.1, it updates whenever I reboot or turn off and is almost instant when I do reboot.

I'm just waiting for M$ to charge us to use the chat feature and play online now :|

Bookstores and novelty stores are full of MC shwag. I was in Barnes & Noble a week ago and they had a whole section of it. Minecraft is much, much bigger than just the game. I also expect Minecon will come again next year or so. There are lots of ways of MS to make their money back on Minecraft. I think people seriously underestimate just how big it's gotten. They still think of Mojang as a three man, back room endeavor.
