Yeah he is a great guy but when has doing your job correctly turned into being a great person? The church is supposed to help the poor and help the oppressed. Why? They are supposed to because their bible tells them too. The pope just happens to be one of the first people in the public eye to do so. If anything rather than just thinking he's a great guy we can rather strive to be more kind in our own lives. The world would be pretty dang perfect if everyone was like this and you don't have to be christian or catholic to be nice.

If I could make one rule for everyone to follow, it would just be to extend kindness to everyone.
In doing so there would be no murders, no robberies, if everyone was nice, the world would be great. Sadly, we aren't all kind people, and it's sad that when somebody acutally goes out of his way to be friendly and helpful it becomes international news...

Are you seriously complaining that people are proud of the pope just because he's supposed to be doing good? That's like complaining about people liking a politician who actually represents their interests.

Actually many popes throughout history have abused there powers to make money and keep a god like image to keep making that money. Some popes in the past have contributed very little in society. Just because your Christian doesn't mean you do good... That's stereotypical and does not even make a Christian, as non Christians do good to.

Just because he's supposed to do good things doesn't mean he will. The fact that he's doing all these wonderful things is good no matter what the prior expections of his office are.
