*cough* where shall I begin? lets start with dubstep, metal, screamo, (hard)rock, alternative, indie, and some techno stuff. i can easy name 5 bands under every one of those genres ;p

Classical only refers to music composed in the Classical Era in between the Baroque Era and the Romantic Era. The styles are actually very different (compare Vivaldi and Paganini for example) but people tend to lump them all together. I wouldn't call them sub-genres, but rather "classical" a "super-genre". As a "classical" musician, I used to lump together rock and metal and pop and basically anything with drums and guitars into one category. The same is true the other way around, and there are many more people who know about popular music than who know about "classical".

p.s. Probably due to my conductor choosing a disgustingly huge amount of Romantic music for my chamber group to play over the past year or so, Baroque is my favorite currently.

I listen to almost whatever, I guess my favorites tend to be more 'chill-out' oriented songs. So I guess my top genres are Jazz, Electronic and a bit of Classical. Nothing wrong with a bit of hardcore dubstep every now and then.
