I'm not sure how feasible this would be from a coding perspective for Intelli. However, the earlier proposed idea of having a fee assignable to buttons got me thinking of this...

I would like it if there were the ability to set a timer on buttons such that a specific user could only hit it once every X hours, or once a day or something like that. This would be useful for mine cart or boat distribution where we could have a dispenser and not have to worry about one person coming along and taking everything in the dispenser as we could limit them to one push of the button per hour or something like that.

True, but then again, realms, warps and world borders aren't vanilla either ;) I'm all for ideas that don't break the legitness of our server and add utility (things like item spawning and more warps are obviously bad). This idea would make it easier for people to be kind and share their items while preventing greed from ruining those intentions.

For example, starter kits could actually be possible in nearby spawn realms, with iron donations from players. It'd be a way to reward new players for exploring. It would add a lot of functionality, and not diminish the legit-ness of our builds =]

I voted No purely because this particular idea can just as easily be implemented without coding. Although it would require the cursed clock.

The button is connected to a clock, which is connected to a binary counter. The clock does one 'rotation' every 60 seconds. Every rotation adds 1 to the binary counter. When the counter hits a binary equivalent of 60, the counter stops the clock and resets itself. When the clock is functioning, the pressing the button does nothing. This hour long time restriction uses 5 binary transistors.

Hey-ho, functioning time restriction without a line of code.

But feasibility wise, it's a pretty neat idea. :3

I think you are mis-understanding the idea. To be clear, it is to add a timer per player. This cannot be implemented without code. In other words, Cloud could press the button, and then be locked out for X minutes. I could then walk up to the button and use it immediately, even though he is locked out.

OH. Okay then, in which case, this cannot be done without coding. MY BAD. xD

bump for more votes, since Intelli is going through suggestions.

Note: I'm not recommending this be mandated, just at the digression of the realm owner to say someone can't spam a button 50 times in a minute.

This could only be problematic if it creates more hassle in setting up buttons. But if no time limit is the default, then no downside whatsoever.
