Well i have noticed that its quite akward to change direction without breaking your Minecart. So i would like to introduce to you a Swedish invention in railways. It's called " Rödljus " or "Redlights" in English. Here is a vid on,a tutorial on them its in Swedish but its the inventor who demonstrates how you make.

You just linked to a 30 minute video entirely in swedish. Let me list a few of the problems with this concept.

1) It takes 30 minutes to explain how to make them.
2) The vast majority of us won't understand what is going on in the explanations due to them being in Swedish.
3) It will take a very large amount of time to refit the subway, especially with the number of private realms it goes through.
4) I'm assuming this will result in slower travel/stopping in places. I don't know for sure, due to laziness and reasons 1 and 2. Slower travel=bad.
5) Breaking your cart works quite well.
6) The vast majority of major destinations have full fledged stops at them. The rest are mostly single player areas that connect to the subway. This means a "redlight" will delay everyone but that one player, and spare them a minor inconvenience.
7) If it takes 30 minutes to explain it, how long will it take to make one of these at each location that requires one?
8) The vast majority of players are either functionally illiterate, or have the attention span of a gnat. How many do you think will actually make it through this video to learn how to do it? Actually, I am neither functionally illiterate, nor do I have a gnat like attention span (Close, but not quite) and I wasn't able to make it through the video either.
9) Finally, 30 minute video. In Swedish.

I hope I have illustrated what might be wrong with this idea in my humble opinion.

Hmm wait I think I mentioned it was in Swedish and BTW its so simple to make that you don't even have to hear what they say just see what they do and do it yourself. It's on 30 mins because they wanna show you exactly how to do it step by step. And you guys should see how beneficial it would be when for an example you are transporting villagers.

Seems like a good idea, will have to look into it.
Swedish is a bit of a barrier though to my understanding.
But if it improves the efficiency of the railway then I'm all for it.
I love innovation.

In 1.3, you can control your minecart without getting out of it (pressing arrow keys will slowly move you along--not practical for long-term transport, but good enough to push you the few blocks to the next powered rail).

You basically just need to push a button and of you go its like you never stopped and its much MUCH more faster and easier than pushing your Mine Cart with the arrow keys

sorry for double posting but i JUST wanna point out that this is really REALLY useful and its quick you just need to basically push a button and of you go so its simple and easy to build so you know turves will write a better explaination of this later.
