I would like it very much if whatever distance I set my Render Level that it goes to that and isn't limited on MineRealm.

What does everyone think?

This is a bad idea until 1.3 is released and Intelli can see if the optimizations Mojang made make a difference. Otherwise it would just add lag now.

Making it unlimited would be nice, but I'm worried about the resulting lag.

Not sure if this is possible, but it would be great if you could load chunks that were outside of your normal rendering area but were already loaded by the server due to being in someone else's rendering area. Total number of chunks being used can't increase, but the number of chunks that you personally see may or may not increase depending on how many of your neighbors are around. At the very least, you could have a pretty impressive view of Spawn City since it's always crowded there.

Of course, this could potentially lead to some bizarre issues where you see someone else's render zone off on the horizon, but with a fog area between you and them.

Well, sending around 40,000 chunks to around 80+ people would probably have a tiny bit of lag...

My computer can't handle rendering distances far away. I keep it on short anyways. SO this really wouldn't affect me in any way at all. Also this probably would cause quite a bit of lag. SO I voted no.

My recollection is that it was lowered due to some of the severe lag issues we had, and it helped reduce the load on the server.

Particularly noticeable on creative--fly 300 m up... oh, I can't see any more than I could from the top of my 60 m high tower.
