Well, I've been playing on other servers for a while, trying my best to survive the utter monstrosity of the *shudder* selfish, unreliable, item-spawning mods and their many followers looking to get free mob spawners and ocelot eggs, etc. of other servers (hold the applause) in order to find some components of other servers that might be implemented into minerealm . Here is the list I have made so far, comment and add on with other things you would like included as well:

1. AFK Command
It's at the top of the list for a reason. This command is one of the few things I thing minerealm really needs to include. it saves a lot of time and players can bypass having to ask "Are you afk?" msg every 5 minutes.

/afk Whenever someone msgs or /onlines you, it'll say "<Player> is AFK."
/afk 10 minutes I actually haven't seen this anywhere, but this would be cool. It'll stop the /afk from working after 10 minutes.
/afk I'll be right back Whenever someone msgs or /onlines you, it'll say "<Player> is AFK. I'll be right back." I have seen this implemented.

3. Username Shortener
Instead of typing /msg supercreeper007, and if SuperCreeper007 is the only one online who's name starts with 'Super', I can just type /msg super, which saves alot of time if the person's username is something like: Bob12354312ADBT1241.

2. Mail command
Pretty much self-explanatory. If they're offline/afk, and you don't know if you'll be online at the same time as them later, just mail 'em.

/mail read Shows all your mails in one box.
/mail clear Marks all your mails as read so that it won't say 'New Message(s)' when you next login.
/mail send to SuperCreeper007 hai Example of sending a mail. This would send the message 'hai' to me.

I know I have seen the "Away From Keyboard" Command.

Anyway, another suggestion I forgot to include was to make the End fully functionable. We're trying to keep this as vanilla as possible, right? So why is the End disabled? Intelli has said "The End was called the End for a reason," but obviously that's not what Notch had in mind when he called it "The End." Just my 2 credits .

Constructive criticism/Reasons they are unlikely to be implemented

During my ban, I have server hopped quite a bit, have seen this command, and have seen exactly how useful it and it's variations are. While it's certainly interesting, it does not solve anything that logging out solves, and is actually less effective than logging out. Being AFK can get you killed in pvp, or killed by mobs. I have died being AFK because my snow golems in Minerealm have nudged me over a cliff.

Generally, it is more effective to just log out, and this command would not change that.

This I like quite a bit. Many servers have it set so that Admin/Mods/Staff can ban and simply type in a shortened name verses the entire, sometimes confusing, thing. This could, however, lead to the wrong people getting a message if the player sending it doesn't notice someone has a similar name and is logged into the server. This can be solved by being attentive however.

All that would need done to implement this is to change the way /msg works slightly, but as I am not particularly skilled with coding, I do not know how difficult that would be.

This I find to be interesting, but honestly, the forums can and do fill this role extremely well as it is. Not only this, but it could be easily abused to spam people, where as a Forum PM can be left unopened and ignored.

For the first, just YES.

For 3 (username shortener), you can already use tab for that.

For 2, mail, maybe. It would be helpful for a variety of reasons. For instance, there is currently a ban request for the player kilauea2011. The problem is that he doesn't have a forum account because he has no email. /mail would let Valon (the requester) mail him so he could fix the problem.
