Do you think hosting a bank, for the whole server to use is a good idea?
If so I will happily host one (using alt's) in its own seperate realm.

About The Bank
The bank shall be hosted in its own realm, with visitors and building rights continuously turned off for other users. The banks realm shall be hosted with only one person incharge, so there will be no chance of items being stolen.

How Will It Work?
It shall have 'slots' of currency*, each shall cost IP/Anything of the value to buy a number of slots. Slots will stay with the account and not expire. Items would be given to the bank in the way of normal trade, but noted on external software.
*Currency is that of the IP system (e.g. Coal, iron, gold and diamonds)

Example:
Storing
Someone want to store 20* diamonds in the bank, they would buy a slot for 1* diamond, then they would trade (either at spawn or another easily accessible area) the diamonds over. The diamonds would then be stored in the banks vault. The items would be noted to that person.
Withdrawing
To retrieve the items simpily get the attention of the bank runner, say the item and the amount you need to take out of your account and they shall be traded over to you.

*Number of items stated are for example only

Notes
The bank is made for long term withdrawals not every minute asking for withdrawals
It is a good way to stop being 'mass stolen' from, if you are ever griefed.

Notes to Administrators
As you know, you need a minimum of two players to make a realm private, if you could make a exception I would happily donate the $15 dollars to Minerealm that I would need otherwise

Compatibility with IP system
A possible way to make life easier for Minerealm users is to make the bank compatible with the new IP system. For example, if a user wants to buy 3 stacks of cobble, they can ask the seller (only the exchange) if they can take it out of the bank via transfer between the to systems.
This is still a possibility, as this may become extremely out of hand and complex.

Can I please make this clear that this system is not run by mods or administrators.

I do think it is a good idea, although it would have to be run by mods or admins. Nobody will go to a bank that doesn't have the security of a mod, too dangerous. I think it could work

Technically people do not actually enter the bank, neither can they. The area of the bank will be locked off from everyone, to stop any stealing.

They still won't allow anyone who is not a mod or higher to manage their many diamonds/gold/iron. Too risky, it could get stolen.

needs some kind of investment system to give you an advantage for investing in the bank and a disadvantage from borrowing from the bank. the bank ,i would think, would need to be ensured by an admin to reduce the impact of people not paying their loans back.

8. Any idea that requires Intelli or the admins to put work into it will ultimately fail. I think I've mentioned this 5 times. In most cases, anything that requires the work of someone else is destined for failure, unless you make the case VERY strong. I don't want to discourage you from posting ideas by saying this, but if you do, don't give a tone such that you are pretty much forcing the admins to do all the work for it.

However, the IP Exchange may be instituting a banking system for loyal / paying players, so that might just over take this, but not sure if we're doing it yet.

It doesn't technically run with the IP System, it can be stand alone. But I have used exchange rates to continuously balance the bank, and also if we could work something out with the two systems running linked to make life easier for players?
Note: This is just a prototype and is not fully thought out. And whether this project goes ahead or not is dependant upon many things, including support.

First, the project doesn't need administrators to put work into it, or anybody else. As it was just a suggestion to make the project cost less.
Second, I could run the bank side by side the IP exchange, as it will be a lot of work. Plus the banks storage will be on its own private realm, run by only one person. That would make it be extremely safe compared to most places on the server.
