When I first joined MR about 6 months ago, there were multiple spawn points. Now there is 1 starting spawn. I understand that you can set your spawn still to Roanoke or Abyssus. But for the most part Spawn City is the spawn point.

Other cities had been working hard at meeting the criteria for and trying to get accepted as additional spawn points.

Would it be at all possible to apply the old criteria/application process and instead of being a spawn point, be a warp point? I know that we have subway, Nether travel, and just plain walking/sprinting to places. I just thought it could be nice incentive to complete good looking city projects.

I would love to see this happen.

Sure right now Roanoke is a "spawn" but only if people physically go there and join it. Ever since we lost the new people joining there automatically foot traffic has all but died completely. It's sad when I think of all the work we put into it and a lot of people join the server and never even see it. If it became a staff approved Warp that people could easily get to I know that would change. I'd even be willing to designate some space at our spawn realm for a wall board with all the warps listed on it.

It just provides incentive for people to develop other areas of the map other than Spawn City. I'll always be for that.

I don't like the idea of being able to warp at will to three very different parts of the map, particularly since we also have /home. It just doesn't seem necessary to have so many different warps. I would fully support bringing them back as default /spawn points for some random number of new players (to spread out the population around the very densely-populated region near Spawn City).

I never understood why the three spawn points were reduced back to only spawn city and why no more spawn points were added.

Spawn city is overpopulated and the constant complaints about how far away public land is can be heard daily. I understand it's annoying for friends who spawn 5000 blocks away from each other but maybe a system that lets them choose where they initially spawn should be implemented.

Any admins/mods with good reasons would be greatly appreciated.

I have been all for a warp point in Roanoke ever since they got rid of the random spawn points. I spent days building a village and flattening out land so I could start a community and now nobody ever comes to Roanoke. Spawn city is hugely over populated and newbs constantly complain about not being able to find public land. I think being able to warp to a few staff chosen major cities around the map would be very nice.

I do agree, but unless we can convince him that having multiple spawn points is better then everyone spawning in different areas, it won't happen :(

I really like this idea +1, but how about we keep the spawn point for new players at spawn city but have on the rules wall or on a seperate wall, that you can /spawn roanoke, etc

Yes i understand this adjustment would be chocolate but it solves problem for new players to minerealm. Intelli can still have people see spawn but until they read the board which most dont they wont know of /spawn roanoke, so they will still see spawn in all its magic.

I understand that everyone including myself worked on the subway but this would put to bed greifers of the subway which would be good also.

But if a city was to have /spawn rights it would have to satisfy heavy demands. and it could only be i believe only 2 spawn points. (i am from spawn city so i am unbias towards both abyssus and roanoke)

also having /spawn would make towns around minerealm compete for the position of /spawn.

anyways just some food for thought

What if we have some special place that noobs go to when they start out, and then they get to type /spawn choose (spawn site)? Then, they warp to that place and that is their spawn.

I hate this idea ^, but I want to see if other people can build off it or something, because I feel it might be the direction this is going.

+1, though I don't see this happening.

I joined back in 2010, early November/October (I think), and I remember having /realm warp, /home and /spawn. Now, I know multiple spawns/warps takes away from the legitamacy of Minerealm being a vannila survival server, but before you dismiss the idea, let me just say a few things.
I never found things to be gamebreaking or significantly easier having that extra warp. It's nice to have a communal spawn point, like the one we have now, but having more spawns would make the spread of people throughout the map less clustered. I am of the opinion that were the extra spawns approved, or if /set realmwarp were brought back, things would pick up a little more. There have been multiple times when I decided against looking beyond my lands because death meant total loss of items, which happens horrendously often anyways, and I'm sure others will agree.

Obviously, You could only have one realm warp per player per realm.

TL;DR

I think that extra warp made things more fun for the players of the server, and I would like to see it implemented, or just the total revival of /set warp and / realm warp (One Per Realm/Per Player).
