This suggestion is exactly what the topic would imply. I propose the /sethome command be remade to not work in private realms that the player does not have building privileges in. Surely this is something that could be easily done, only requiring the server to perform almost the same exact check used every time somebody places a block, but why bother? Well, the reason I originally thought up this idea was that, in the future, I plan on building a large themed obstacle course of some sort, most likely with some sort of automatic prize dispenser at the end that would remove players from the room after giving them a prize. Although I've never visited it, I'd imagine what I'm planning would be something similar to Spritzo's Castle, with the main difference being the prize dispenser. But, such a design would require the player to have to travel through the entire course every time they wanted a prize, lest I go bankrupt from players using /sethome just before the prize room.

However, also consider that this would benefit any player trying to keep others out of their realm due to having farms they don't want stolen from, preferring privacy, or any other number of reasons. As things are now, if anyone ever manages to somehow enter your realm because of something like this, they can simply /sethome there and make it impossible to keep them out. Furthermore, if you do want somebody to be able to make your realm their home, it's only a matter of giving them building permission for a brief moment, since this system wouldn't remove their /home location after they've lost building rights in that area.

Short Version/Summary
While it's a feature that there may not be a huge demand for, I see no downsides to implementing it, implementing it would benefit at least a few people, and implementing it shouldn't require much effort if my basic knowledge of programming is worth anything.

This is a great idea. It stops harassment cleanly and efficiently. Players would no longer be able to disrupt store business or interfere in tournaments. Since only a lucky fraps video would catch perpetrators, I can't see any better way to enforce "respect other players" with regards to /sethome.

You didn't actually read the OP did you? This isn't about block protection or eviction, it's about intrusion prevention.

Why would you need to change your /sethome if you have the /spawn nearby?

+1
This would help keep out certain INDIVIUDALS -cough-jtcog-cough-kylefate-cough- from inturrupting our future tournaments and even more so, our future LBG's. :]

Your argument seems to be that there's no reason for it. However, I've clearly stated a few benefits of this idea in my original post. I'd also like to point out that, even in private realms that they don't have building privileges in, players are able to cause trouble by taking things from dispensers, activating redstone switches, and killing other players.

I added a poll to one of my previous topics and found that they seem to encourage people to not actually read the post and then vote without explaining why. In my opinion, if you can't justify your vote, then you don't deserve one.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. Please explain this thought a bit more thoroughly.
