Do you think MineRealm's Trading rooms need an upgrade??

Nah, I like the simplicity of them.

Definitely, there is too much theft.

It has recently come to my attention that the Minerealm Trading rooms require an upgrade.
The design of the rooms does not prevent unwanted players from entering and interrupting trades/stealing.
I am going to suggest a new design of trading room that does the following:
  • Separates the players.
Locks the doors to prevent more than one player entering each compartment.
Does not allow you to toss items through to the other compartment and lose them.
    Allows you to trade.
The only problems with the design:
  • Uses a sticky piston to lock the trading window, which contributes to server lag.
Larger than the existing rooms, though they can be reduced in size.
Edit: A smaller design with the same features:

This design is more cramped, but is only 4x*5y*5z.

Images of original learge design:
Image
^ Wiring for the room. The plates go directly to the doors, and go into an AND gate for the piston.
Image
^ Outside view of room. Shows the sticky piston.
Image
^ Both levers (plates) need to be active to open the window.
Image
^ Levers representing active pressure plates, displaying the use of the trading window.
Image
^ Can't break into the rooms thru redstone!
Image
^ Door is locked when you are on the plate.
Image
^ View of one compartment.
Image
^ Both rooms unoccupied, both doors open.

The design is created by my brother, whose IGN is "Idiotioc".
One unit is:
7 blocks long
8 blocks tall (3 below in wiring, and one above for wiring the piston)
9 blocks wide
A compartment is:
5 blocks long
2 blocks tall
3 blocks wide

The design we have is brilliant. It ensures that you need two people to initiate a trade as the door will not close otherwise. The only thing that needs to be addressed is where to put the chests back to stop the glitch. Which as i am aware, they are currently working on now. So i don't think they need to redo the whole trade system but rather tweak small features.

After looking at your design, I see no advantages over the current design.

1) Thieves will still be able to walk into the room right behind you. Using the smaller design both you and the thief will be stuck in the room.

2) With the traders forced to stand so close together, lag will cause most thrown items to be picked back up by the thrower.

3) There is no position in either design that a chest would be safe from either the block destruction glitch or a hacked client.

At a certain point you're just going to have to be aware of what's going on around you.
