Alot of the time in the server there is quite a bit of profanity and vulgar language, as well as spamming.
My suggestion is that Mods and Admins should be able to mute players or only partially mute them instead of banning them completely. Say if they don't listen to the warning then they get muted and only have a pre-approved list of words/phrases to use. If they spam those words/phrases then a ban would definitely be in order. Alot of the bans in Minerealm are for language issues. Some great players are now gone.... Why not mute them instead of banning the few good players the server has left?

I don't see why you aren't for this if what you stated above is how you truly feel. This would only help admins and mods, in the sense that they wouldn't have to tuck another ban under their belt when a foulmouth is not listening. That way, they'll get less ban appeals for arrogant Neanderthal's who couldn't keep their mouth shut.

I am not for this, because those who use foul language should be banned. Not just muted and isolated, but banned due to their idiocy and dumb actions. Also mods who have large amount of bans under their belt are seen as those who don't put up with crap. Also if ban appeals are made that means they are truly sorry but if they didn't make one obviously the swearing that occurred was meant to be banned for and not just a mute.

Well, I'd like to say first of all that what your saying definitely has some sense to it. I swear a lot in real life, but I have the modesty and respect to keep it clean on this server. However, in the game I spend most of my time playing "Sauerbraten," I've found that muting works excellent with the foul mouthed types... I am a moderator on this game, and I get crap all the time for banning people for "empty" reasons. But like you said, if someone is ignorant and deserves it, they should be banned. The thing with muting is; when a swearing patron is muted, he feels as though he is less of a person than others on the server. This usually bends there character, and in the future, they will know better than to swear, and could possibly put forth for the community and contribute later, having not been banned. But than again, these are two completely different games, and I will no matter what respect the choice of Minerealms admins/mods. Whatever they decide to do, I support it 100%. I just simply thought it was a good idea, having this correlation to using muting in the past.

I see where you stand, but muting in Minerealm would just be giving those idiots what they want ATTENTION.

Also, with that being said this would also have to be coded by Intelli, and he is mainly busy working on all the /setspawns along with fixing some bugs with certain plugins.
This means it would a hassle for Intelli.

The coding and stuff would be time consuming for Intell, so i doubt it will happen anytime soon with the minecrafts updating, and this MIGHT reduce the amount of ban appeals, or increase the amount of random posts/greafing, face it, if a noob can't get his/her anger out by saying something, one is bound to go on a greafing spree, so i vote down, just cut out the middle-man and save everyone some time.
If they wish to speak again (and play again) then they can post a ban appeal, which can be blatantly ignored. :lol:

I really don't see why we want to be helping people who break the rules. It obviously says no swearing at spawn. When people break the rules they get banned and they know this.

Why would we want to keep a bunch of immature swearing dummies on the server when there are so many other potentially mature people trying to join the server when it's full?
