I have been doing a bit of building in creative the past few days and have been wondering why the /fly command doesn't work like most others, such as the one used in Single Player Commands. I mean, wouldn't it be more helpful that way? The only reason I find the current /fly command helpful is it allows fast travel around the server, but it doesn't really help with large and complicated build projects or large sprite building.

I agree.

I was trying to build something on Creative (Kirby sprite) and I couldn't get to high places and place blocks. I ended up giving up and I just made the same thing on single player with SPC.

Sure fly mode is great for travel, but, I think it should also be great for building.

1. The flying is server-side. If you really expect server-side mods, and client-side mods to work the same, then I am disappointed in you.
2. If you were paying any attention at all to what's going on, you would know that Notch is adding client-side flying in for the new creative mode for 1.8.
