Chat can get taken up, frequently, by the random individual conversations of 3 or so people, bothering people trying to advertise or generally talk to everyone for some particular reason. Also, it can be difficult to sort through the 3 people you are messaging at the same time easily, and buddy chat also has numerous other buddies that are not involved with the project/conversation you are trying to organise.

Thus, I propose that a 'Chat Room' system be implemented. However, I am afraid it would be very code intensive for Intelli. Regardless, please tell me why you think this should or shouldn't be implemented. Vote away!

How it would work:
- With this, you could start a 'room' in which only those added can hear what has been said by other members in the room:

- The host of the room (the one that started it) could invite people:

- Invited people could talk only to other invited people:

- The host of the room could also close it later on, if so needed:

- Upon his/her leaving the server, it would close automatically (or hosting it would be passed on to a different person in the chat room)
- If the number of people in the room drops to 2 or less, then the room automatically closes
- The room automatically closes after 12 hours

- People could leave the chat room if they wanted:

This does NOT mean that people in the room can only talk in the room. It means they can talk inside the room with the '/c' command or talk in normal world chat by just typing things regularly. '/c' would be much like a temporary buddy chat for people wanting to talk exclusively about something.

But what would the command be if you were in multiple chat rooms? Typing /c1 and /c2 would get pretty confusing...
It is a good idea, and would help alot with chat and being attacked with buddy messages from other conversations. So, I give you my vote, because it would be extremely convenient with a few tweaks. Potentially, this could be the best thing since shaddowcraft, but I just wonder how it will be changed when it is implemented. The only other thing I can see wrong with this is that we wont be freaking out the people who just join and walk in on our crazy conversations, but I guess you guys would think thats a good thing.

Just pointing out that this isn't completely necessary. Wouldn't it defeat the point of guilds 2.0?

In any case, I like it. +1

I'm not in a guild, nor do I ever plan on being in one and staying in it. So something like this would be nice. Then again, I rarely talk to people for long periods of time, so it might just be useless for me as well.

Guilds already server this purpose, and to be honest, so does Skype, or whatever your preferred method of online socializing is. Still, occasionally, I'm an optimist, so... here are my thoughts.

I think it'd be more efficient (and a hair simpler to set up/use) if a few things were changed.

I think it should function like a self dissolving guild, being that after it is created, it's there until a set amount of time passes/the person who created it disbands it. Only one per person, obviously. Leaving the server wouldn't force disband it, but the timer keeps ticking.

That's all I'd change. I like the idea, but I'm not hopeful for it's future, not when things Skype can do this and more already, cost nothing, you get the idea... but still, +1.

When I played A Tale in the Desert, I loved their chat system. It's been a couple of years since I've played it, but my recollection was that it was a series of tabs along the bottom of your screen which you could open or minimize as you chose.

When you messaged someone or they messaged you, it started a separate tab. You could leave the tab open indefinitely if it was someone you talked to a lot and just keep it minimized. (I believe the main chat tab was always there) The player's in game name was on the tab and would turn red if they had typed in the chat while you had your side minimized.

You could belong to multiple guilds (there were costs associated with starting a guild and expanding it to include more members) and there was a listing of the ones you belonged to, you could choose the guild and it would open a tab for that guild's chat.
