A while ago I posted this:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9328&p=110775&hilit=tax#p110775

It has happened to me (and i'm sure many others) more often than i care to count that someone says they are selling X for 1000 rc, you agree, meet them and give them the 1000. They then demand another 112 rc before releasing the goods

OR

They'll give you the items, you give them the 1000 then they spend 5 minutes in chat raging about it demanding that you pay them more money.

These can both happen with auctions & in game sales, but increasingly frequently I am noticing that people are putting tax conditions on prices and taking the effort to make fine text and such which then causes every person who bids to have to calculate each of their bids to ensure they are bidding what they wish to. Causing an inconvenience for all involved.

In the topic I've linked to above, Rokkr has agreed with me that in an item sale it is the sellers responsibility to pay the tax and that if you offer an item at a price, you have to honor that price and not demand more (i.e. tax) later.

People are circumventing this by placing these 'conditions' which in a real world scenario would amount to a range of criminal actions Such as: False advertising, Tax Evasion & Fraud.

My suggestion:

Tax is payable by the seller (According common sense and confirmed by Rokkr). Therefore I would like it codified into the auction rules that a seller can't demand (even in the terms & conditions of the auction) to have the buyer pay tax.

TL:DR? - Seriously people, stop being lazy/deceptive, if you want more money for your stuff, raise the price openly from the start, it actually takes less effort than what you are doing now!

In the spirit of Tax Scamming =)

This was my main point with Torn like a week ago. He of course said something to the degree of "It's really quite simple." Simple? Why don't you do it from the start? Stupid $^%& like this adds just one more step that was never needed in the first place and has infinite ways of being abused or griefed. Most everyone else on this server simply does what you would think everyone would do, let the tax be taken from the asking price. No possible need for a calculator for ANYONE. Side note, I loved the super simple example Torn gave, yeah because every trade deals with just the power of 10...right. I understand its not hard to find 10% and add it on. My point is, could you really not do that yourself?

Now i am sure the only people I am going to see in favor for stomping this idea down are "vets" or people that have no life AT ALL and spend TOO much of it here. Yeah I said you can spend too much time here, want to fight about it? Those people realize they can squeeze every last RC out of every transaction, in a lot of places it actually just inflates the prices.

Example: Keep it loosed lipped, assume people know how to trade with you. Even if you read it in plain English "plus tax" it doesn't register with everyone. Instead a lot of the time, the traders are surprised AT THE TRADE that additional RC is needed then the story changes to "OH! ^%&*!!!, this 'feminine hygiene product' is gonna make me do some (more) math when I JUST WANT TO PLAY AND TRADE!!!!! I want to punch your grandmother!" At least that is what usually goes through my head.

Its not cool guys, try playing like the other 98% of players in this server that don't scam, skimp, shave, siphon. If you weren't doing any of these things or in hopes of the other trader &*^%ing up, how is that not wrong? Sure you will hide and deny any fact of wrong doing, but I don't think people are stupid enough to just believe you are that hard headed against flat pricing...would it be that hard for YOU INSTEAD to take tax into effect and do YOUR OWN DAHM MATHS!

You are a joke people, and its exactly why I don't trade or would EVER trade with a "tax on topper".
You gonna write a 10000 page manifesto of all the tax codes for Minerealm now...i mean lets just make it worse why not?

Rage much?
Because I utilize capital letters, random characters (&^$&^$&^$$^),and the use of the word dahm? GTFU and maybe try to make a point instead of a lazy bash. Tax on top is a scam, so I decided to use this time (in the right area and all, not off topic ect) to explain my distrust and out right disagreement with anyone that thinks "tax on top" is ok or has no negative variables at all.

I am sorry did I miss your super constructive point? Happens sometimes, I have a tendency to overlook half-baked ideas.

THAT! is a bash! L2P

Shape up or ship out. I'm inches away from putting up a forum ban request. You don't seem to give much hint that you're just joking around.

I like making things readable.
Well I don't.

Anyways, Let's just remove the 10% server tax while we're at it! Down with central government. Heck. Let's get rid of the block money system. Oh! Let's do one up! Let's make it so everyone has creative! Yes! Let's all whine and complain about paying ~5,000 more credits. Here's how it should be. Don't like the way the auction is, then

DON'T BID ON IT.

It's a hard concept, I know. Yet, I have faith in you guys. Maybe, just maybe.. You'll learn that if you don't set the price, then don't argue with it.

TL:DR? - Stop crying about paying a little more money.

Since i have played on this server, i have known that people WILL sell items and ask for the tax to be paid. If you don't like it, don't buy from those people. Last I checked, you didn't HAVE to buy from people you didn't want to, or if you didn't like their prices. Personally, on all of my purchases, I WILLINGLY pay the tax, even if not told to. It's getting the people the price they want, and actually helping dumb down the inflation of the credits at the same time.

Please, tell me more about how asking for tax to added into the price is deceptive. Last I checked places IRL do this, all time. So you're going to come onto a GAME and whine and complain about something that happens IRL as well as in the digital world? Good Job, you just made yourself look like a fool. :D

That post you made, pretty much shows how the tax works. Players do NOT have to go by that, and just raise the price to compensate for credits lost from the server's cut of the profit, seeing as it is PLAYER suggested, and not a rule. If you really wanted that item, and its an auction, I'm sure you'd pay the tax if asked.

I like how you made this LONG RANT (because that's what it is) after on Ninjalo's Emerald Ore auction, he refused to abide by a guideline that YOU, NOT STAFF, made. If anything this is a raging post about you not wanting to pay tax on an auction that you honestly didn't have to bid on. Please, go somewhere else and cry. Tornadic is bidding just fine and isn't whining and complaining like you are. If anything, this is a personal attack on Ninjalo due to him refusing your bid after not following, what were they again? Player suggested guidelines, not staff rules.

TL;DR:
Stop complaining about people wanting tax to be paid on items. it's a way for inflation to be brought down, while getting the person the credits they want, while not overcharging for the item itself. Don't like their business? Don't buy from them.
