I'm almost certain that owning realms in the wild by exploiting the -5000z bug is against the rules. If not, I'm sure other staff will correct me on this...

I would think it would be, and yet it's been overlooked thus far. It hasn't had a huge effect on gameplay yet, but it will if it results in people carrying gear through to the new Wilderness and being completely set up already after the wipe.

Admittedly the Wilderness terrain will be predominantly the same as the main map, but it's still quite an unfair advantage.

I doubt the wilderness will be wiped. That would be pretty pointless and it will probably be reserved to be wiped for future updates and not this one.

The Wilderness is pretty much the most public land on MineRealm, and I can't imagine not taking the opportunity to match it in with the 1.7 terrain. Still, Intelli hasn't been specific about it so I guess you could be right.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before and I apologise if it has been, but since the nether is public is that being wiped? It definabtly needs a wipe since it has been trashed and is lacking in many recources such as glowstone and quarts which should be fairly common and easy to find. To add on to this, there are many great structures worth protecting (mostly grinders) and the nether portal system should not be destroyed either. If there are not yet plans to wipe the nether, I think it would be smart to include this with the major wipe and set up some system so that players can protect their portals on the nether side of things and in special cases, certain building. if you know whether the nether is being wiped or have any oppinions on that please say something :D.
Thanks,

Fairly certain intelli stated the nether would not be wiped as there were no new block updates to be made since quartz. So all a wipe would be doing is renewing resources, unlike the public map wipe which is to bring the minerealm map more or less up to date with new biomes etc. And considering the size of the nether it would be a mess again VERY quickly.

There is still lots of quartz to be found, you just have to dig around for it.
And GS can be easily acquired from villies.

Not saying I don't think the nether could do with a wipe, but I doubt it will happen.

*crosses fingers and hopes so* :P
No, there have been no terrain changes in the Nether

I'm just so excited for this to happen!

I'll be marking all my realms for wiping, just so I can see that new terrain and build something that is impressive (I hope), but matches the terrain.

So glad this vote went the way it did!

Everything should be wiped aside from realms ppl want to save.

Nether and Wilderness included just cause theres portals in the nether that arent really used anymore and or arent connected properly and cause issues with other portals. Plus it would be good to have nether keeps again for better area's where skeletons can spawn. Also being able to get more quartz would be great too.

Downside nether rails/paths would have to be redone but it gives players a chance to improve on it.

The wildnerness just cause it would look better being updated as well vs looking like one big long strip of land that doesnt look like 1.7 land. A future update of the wilderness would do that to it but at least it would be looking good now.

I want to save the Nether.

Then ask staff permission and remove them. It isn't that difficult.

There's no reason to believe there would be more Wither pads than before, and there's still plenty of quartz in the Nether. Wiping it for quartz would be like wiping the overworld with no update because iron isn't everywhere.

I think you don't understand how much work was put into making the Nether habitable--work that would now have to be redone. It's a positively insane amount of work.

Fair enough. I don't really care, personally.

TL;DR: Wiping the Nether has no benefits, but has significant issues in the form of creating ores while there are plenty left, which is non-legit, and the huge difficulty of making it traversable again.
