I think it's a more fun way of getting the rules across.

With todays youth and gaming community, about 65% of them see a sign and think: "RULES? Boring. READING? Boring. LITREACY? borngi!"

Maybe implementing a more simple version of my famous "Impossible Game Platform," With a new rule presented as you gradually answer questions / learn rules while doing the course. :3 Nooby boot camp :D

There's no way... no way you don't see the majority of the little newbies ask the same annoying questions over and over and over again. Now as an added bonus we get to see Help Bot answer the same annoying questions over and over again.

Let me ask this question. What is better? To weed out the idiots right away or ban them within minutes, hours, days of them starting out.

I quite like this idea for some reason...
A fairly simple designed maze would be quite a simple way to moderate the inflow of players, getting them to acknowledge the rules some they can't plead ignorance and might put of griefers with short attention spans.
But on the negative side I guess it might require more coding?
I guess it all depends on what first impression we want to give new players on the server.
A maze that takes to long to get through could shut off the flow of new players to the server which in the long run could cause the death of the server.
The last point is the part about players in addition having to walk to find public land and having to deal with hunger as well which always panics new players as they think they'll starve.
But on balance I find the idea interesting so I'll support it.

This doesn't even have to cover the rules either. It could cover basic Minerealm stuff. For example - 1st question. Will you die of hunger on this server? Right turn for Yes or left turn for No you will only drop to five hearts. Just think of how many new players wouldn't be begging for food as soon as they start playing.

Okay, so when you first join you have to go through a maze, do-able but ugly and turns people off.
Here's the problems:
-Every spawn will need a maze.
-When people have gone through the maze and they /spawn, they go have to go through the maze again.
-Moving the /spawn location outside would jut give new players the ability to skip the maze and get out.
-The person who ends up raging in chat because they don't want to do the maze.
-If there is a more complex system, e.g. Code at the end, you end up with people saying it in chat.
-A different system, example a warp out by standing on a block takes away the vanilla aspect that we are already lacking on.
-It takes away the public look of the server.

There is a lot more, it's common sense that this will be difficult to implement and just cause problems and issues once it is.

I like the idea of a simple maze although even with that it would be impossible to prevent them from just walking through the maze. Anyone can use the right/left hand rule to escape any maze with minimal effort without reading the signs.

Instead of a maze there could just be something like a series of levers(7-10) in a starter room. Over each lever could be a question. using AND and NOT gates to verify that all questions are answered. If all are correct could open a wall with pistons allowing them to exit. There would have to be enough questions to ensure it was faster to read and answer the simple questions than to flip through the permutations.

Maybe have the opposite wall with the rules so the new people could walk over read the rule then answer the question across the room..

Just an idea....this wouldn't even require coding just effort in game to set-up the levers and gates meaning anyone that wanted a spawn would just have to build the room to the specifications provided.

Or we could keep the signs we have now and not over complicate the system. It's not idiot-proof, but do we really want idiots on the server?

Not unless Intelli can code it so the first time you login you go to a separate tutorial maze area.

Yeah that's exactly how it works Aguy. It's a one time only deal. I don't know where S2 got the notion that it would be an everytime you /spawn kind've thing. I haven't described it like that once.
