Step 1: Go through portal near spawn.
Step 2: Walk along one of the newly refurbished nether paths for about 300 blocks until you find a portal.
Step 3: Go through portal.
Step 4: If resulting exit is in a private realm, walk to the edge of the realms. This should not be more than 100 blocks.
Step 5: Begin gathering resources and making a home.
Step 6: ????|
Step 7: Profit.

This all takes about 4 minutes for a smart minecrafter. If they're too dumb to figure this out, then they will only be a nuisance and don't deserve to be on the server.

As for it being non-vanilla, it is. It's a portal that sends you a few hundred to a thousand blocks from spawn. How is that vanilla at all?

Well, how do you suppose a portal from spawn will go to one point of public land?

I might not have described it very well but what I basically meant was....
1. Build a portal close to the spawn realm and light it.
2. Go through the portal into the nether and build the lobby around that portal that is created.
3. In the lobby, build another portal(s) to got back into the normal world.

So you go into the nether, and back out of the nether using a different portal connected to a different part of the normal world.

This way it is totally vanilla as it uses nether portals to quickly move through areas of the open world. The portals built in the nether will most likely be connected to the public land in a random location.

Well, how do you suppose a portal from spawn will go to one point of public land? The land in question will have to be fresh, and not have anyone buy the realm for it's 'spawn realm-alike' properties.

A better solution is:
Give al newbies a auto sethome somwere
In public land and that every newbie haves his home
Somwere else

Why on earth would you want to make life easier for the lazy and the malicious?

EDIT: How long do you think that "safe lobby" would last againt the first-time-players that came to this server to grief?
