I have taken precautions so things like this don't happen. in other words all my sheep are in an underground sheep farm completely closed in and with only one entrance closed by a block. Nobody can touch my sheep. Although this does not prevent glitching animals but it prevents players killing them.

Pro tip: if there is even a single opening people can shoot them with bows and arrows... Don't leave anything open.
