Well it's sort of a sub-vote of sorts.

If the city does not get protection, then I will be seriously considering abandoning the project all together due to the sheer amount of griefing that will happen to the city. However, if the second option has more votes than the third, then I'll give building the city a shot.

I'm guessing they can't build also because the nether will be wiped at the 1.9 update, therefore it would be a waste of time. Other than that, they can go start building on 11/11/11, which isn't too far away.

Well the idea was to wait until the Glowstone rush was over and after the Roads were started.

However, seeing as support is.....lacking, I'm probably gonna shelf the idea for God knows how long.

I think it is a good idea, however it needs an administartors look on it. It could be a really cool and interesting place to have in the nether.

Well, as of now, I am formally canceling the project until an unspecified date.

Reasons:
1. Lack of support*
1a. People not reading the first post (I understand it's long, but there's a TL;DR at the bottom and a FAQ section there as well).
1b. No offense to the boss man, but the comment about alleged vote tampering in the previous thread has affected people's opinion about the project based on my mistakes (in utilizing the poll functions) as opposed to the content of the project.
*The proposal needs at least 50% favorability to even be CONSIDERED, and the votes are too close.

2. Personal issues
2a. Like reason #1, I don't feel that this will get the support and attention it deserves, particularly from the staff. I don't really want to risk it at the moment, trying to get support for this then get it shut down by the staff for one reason or another.

2b. I just want to stop worrying and stressing over if this idea will succeed or not.

I would like to keep the thread open though, to try and get people's thoughts on this and such and how to improve upon it for the (maybe) future application.

Well I'd like to point out that if you were to desire a city in the Nether, you'd have to go through the application process, since there is currently no protection in the Nether.

Because there is no protection in the Nether, you need to convince the powers that be to bend the rules in your favor. Which is what you don't seem to understand. And I swear to God, it's really getting tiring having to explain this to you every. Fething. Time.

The size, the general location (or what I'd be looking for for the location), who would ultimately be in control (that would be the Staff, which you seem to forget on a regular basis), how the city would be run, where a steady stream of resources would come from, how it would impact the Nether.

Then you come in wanting HANDOUTS. No. NO. I'm sick of it. You don't deserve jack. You earn it like I've been trying to earn it.

As far as i know, intelli hasn't confirmed this. And i honestly doubt that it will be accepted any time soon... why? Because unless its hard as nails to get, protection in the nether will never happen.

The reason I don't like your opinions is because you are wrong.

I never said this was to be the only city in the Nether.
I never said it should or would be the only one that gets protection.
I never stated that this plan would be accepted by Intelli.

As for the dividing, it is either divide the city into parts or suffer MASSIVE infighting within the city as the different factions literally and figuratively carve the city into parts. Having one massive, totally neutral city, while a nifty concept, would be utter chaos. Walkways destroyed, lava EVERYWHERE, holes in the walls and floors. If we did that, we might as well forego the whole protection bid all together.

The control and order aspects are needed to make the city work. No order means anarchy. Anarchy means a destroyed city. A destroyed city means wasted time, effort and resources.

Yes, some people may be screwed out of building privileges. But I'd rather give someone like Flan building rights than Little Johnny Minecrafter who just joined the server five minutes ago. At least Flan can be held accountable moreso than the little herp-a-derp that just wants to cause chaos for teh lulz.

Dude, I kid you not. By all means, please, I invite you to make an application for a city. Heck, I'll even help you with it if you want. I'm not trying to discourage people from making their own applications.
