May also work better if the owners can only lock down 1 realm at a time. That would allow someone to block off an area for construction/mining without being able to cause more than a minor inconvinience for those traveling through the area.

It might also be important to put some restrictions on borders for locations adjacent to spawns...

Alternatively, you can simply wall off the area in which you're working. Problem solved.

Would only work if I made the walls to the height cap, or if I was surrounded by private realms (which I am not, yet.)

That's not what I mean. You're required to have a path through your realm, so that wouldn't work anyways. What I meant was to have like 2-high walls around a smaller subsection of your realm, such that only you have access to the materials being mined. Yes you would have to move it a few times. If it saves your rare stuff, I think that's worthwhile, no?

You're underestimating how quickly they figure out how to lag jump. Now if you want to take away their ability to lag jump then place single slabs around the wall. They can't place at all on a single slab.

I can tell you right now that I've yet to find a wall I couldn't get over. Of course, there are ways to deter even the best block jumper (eg lava, overhangs, the aforementioned slabs).

It is possible to get over any wall if you have the equipment and skill, any determined block jumper will get over and in. I likewise have failed to find a wall I could not get over or a compound I could not get into.

If you really wanted to you can lag jump to the map height. Trust me I have done it.
Isn't it exploiting the lag?
