I hate to say this, but it is a PUBLIC chat that have mods to watch it. If there is an issue then they can take care of it. To write more code to put on the already taxed server would just slow it down causing more lag. We should all just grow up a bit (cause most on here are fairly young) and agree that chat can be a little bothersome (most of the time I have public chat turned off). If everyone would try to ignore the little agervating stuff and try not to be a bother themselves it would be a much better place for everyone.

It's not just the annoying aspect of the matter that made me write this idea, but the actual disturbing portion, the chat is rather small in comparison to how many people are talking and pushing previous text off the screen, and when 2 or more people are doing something like "Mod????????????????????????????????"
"how do i get creditssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss?" while I'm trying to trade with someone who, for whatever reason, refuses to use /msg and just uses the public chat so I can't disable it in order to speak with him, it's such a hassle. "Well then stop trying to trade with idiots who don't /msg" BUT I WANT MY GOODS!

Calticman, I agree it is very fustrating. But my point was I dont want more code on the server slowing it down. I would rather have more heavy handed Mods who control the chat from spammers and such and have a faster non laggy server. I am not saying that the Mods do not do a good job, just I would like more heavy handed Mods

And I get very fustrated at the guys that use the general chat when they are building stuff and dont use the party chat feature.

This is a great idea, I wouldn't have to keep /chat on all the time just so I can see the other 1/2 of my screen. Give this man a gold star!

Now remembering people wanting mods/admins to add a mute feature, some people thought that it shouldn't happen because if a player is disturbing to that point, he / her should be kicked. However, if the person is being annoying to one person in general, the person should individually have the option to /mute the player. This would be like the feature in Call of Duty games, that usually works rather well. Also, if a player is being muted by multiple people in large numbers, it'd be easy to see that the player deserves to be banned.

The problem is that this takes up even more processing from the server, if I'm recalling the last time it was shot down correctly.
