In short,

As an example: Just like a call of duty double xp weekend, when they come out with a new map pack or something very important.

Minerealm double RC day, where something big in Minerealm happens, and to celebrate we have each block placed / deleted 1 credits each for 12 hours or a day.

It sounds nice, but I'm considering that a big part of having 10k rc to buy a realm weeds out people who are not serious about playing for any huge length of time. I'm on the notion that any rc changes that benefit the player allow for a flood of new users who don't have to "work as hard".

I think this is a good idea. In many games there are weekly happy hours which give 2x as many points or coins or whatever the currency is. If we were to have a weekly double points hour, that varied every week. Id say it would be a Friday every week, starting at 12PM UTC then gaining +1 hour each week. This way, every few weeks, everyone would have the chance to benefit.
However, no matter which way you spin it this could be a bad thing. We don’t want to make it too easy to gain credits. But this could provide new players an opportunity to gain credits twice as easily, which could mean more people staying on the server.

So again, its hard to make this a good, or a bad thing. Perhaps we could limit it so its only possible to gain up to 5 thousand credits in this hour?

I would agree that celebration of holidays or events is a good thing, but it doesn't have to be done with rc. Something along the lines of an "easter egg" or games with prizes for those who participate seems a little more safer. That way, it can still be fun and at the same time, keeping things reasonable.
