cerevox, im not even sure you have a nether portal to cover, cause if you did you would know that going through a portal from the nether to the regular world, takes you to a random regular world portal. also, being lost in the nether and wanting to get the heck out is not something that should be punishable, without alternate ways of contacting an admin, being stuck in this glitch is almost equivalent to a ban, because if you relog, you will still be stuck in the portal. (no chat, no commands, no esc) (<CwutIdidther?)

(edit, there is the ALT key, then your mouse gets released and you can close the minecraft.exe)

double edit, the 1st edit is wrong, also its very possible i was wrong about the randomness of the portals as cogohst pointed out. i would apologize to cerevox for insulting their portal knowledge, but they advocate punishment for being lost so no.

You have absolutely no idea how portals work, do you? There is nothing random about portals. They link to their inverses in the real world. If another portal that could function as an inverse appears, it often links to that one instead. I use the Nether for travel on a daily basis. It's perfectly possible to figure out where certain portals exit.

oh wow, i thought that would work for sure, but i didnt even know alt did that until after my experience with a blocked portal, so i was just guessing that that would work.

soooo. yea, its a really really bad situation to be stuck in.

well cogohst you dont need to be so rude about it sheesh, (absolutely no idea how they work < rude thing to say) edited my old statement.

now if your right and im wrong about the randomness. figuring out where the portals go has to be done by actually travelling through them and being familiar with the areas around them (to identify the specific portal) now that still means you can get trapped familiarizing yourself with the portals. and you need to take into account that other players might not be that familiar with the nether and can get lost, and go through a random portal in an attempt to escape. Being lost is not something that players should be punished for. being punished for not being knowledgeable about the server's nether, that's something an elitist would advocate, and elitists, scare off new players.

still no one has given any reasonable explanation for not allowing space to turn around! you don't even need to let the person out into your home, just space to turn around!

and wait, killer kelsey, so that deactivated the portal or what? what your saying sounds like good advice.

it doesn't matter if its punishable or not i was just annoyed at the time when i started this but yes it is really annoying to be stuck in this glitch.

The Nether is meant to be a horrible, dangerous place. You should have to learn which portals work for yourself, not rely on rules that most of the staff wouldn't even want to enforce. And you can roughly figure where in the world the portal will exit by tossing around some equations with 8 in them. Portals almost always follow the inverse rule when linking/creating a new portal. There are times when exiting a portal Nether-side creates an entirely new portal far from your entrance, but this is rare and somewhat erratic in occurrence.

The Nether is MEANT to be a horrible, dangerous place. That's why PvP is enabled, why stealing is allowed. I never once said anything about myself in that paragraph. And you spelled elitist wrong, please fix it.
