The only way that this could possibly work would be if the tag was more than just the average "veteran". Clearly now, there is an extremely high percentile of one year veterans on the server. If this was to be implemented, I think it would need to be something more like 2 years to try and minimize the tags in chat.

I'm sure you all remember the spooky tag... if that's what you want chat to look like then by all means...

The same reason as custom tags and the reason why Mod/Admin is now Staff. Intelli wanted to minimize the colors in chat and minimize the tags used. The whole reason the Vet tag was removed before was because it was basically a giant wall of green text and was bad on the eyes.

When the vet tag was added before probably 60-70% of players were vets, now we have a constant stream of new players and a lot less vets. The problem would possibly not be as bad as last time. With people coming and going the vet to non vet ratio would stay fairly balanced.

One new tag not necessarily a new colour, could be same as donor's colour. Would not make a huge difference to the clutter in chat.

Chat is already cluttered. You mentioned, Staff, Donor, Help Bot, Server and the green tick... Throw into the mix, Guild, Buddy, Private message and a few other things for us Staff Members, it's hectic.

I vote we remove all chat and play in complete silence. Reading is too hard for most people and can cause or contribute to eye strain and ultimately complete loss of vision.

The spooky tag was an event only tag good for one week after the maze closed.. It wasn't permanant and honestly shouldnt count due to it being implemented for fun for Halloween.

I think that donors who are vets should be able to change their "donor" tag to say "[Vet]". It would be the same colour, thus it wouldn't clog up chat any more than normal, plus it would provide lots of incentive for vets who want recognition to donate.

Veteran should be defined as 1.0 players, rather than just 1 year players.

In certain that there won't be too much more confusion than the normal veteran tag would ensue.
