I think *blotting* out bad words would promote the point of the swear filter. I thought we had this implemented at some point... Maybe not. Perhaps change the 'Warning-Ban' system to 'Warning-Kick', either way keep the warning system. A lot of times, people accidentally enter curse words, and follow up with a "Whoops" - so cutting out the word entirely makes sense. Furthermore, then you can't exploit the warning system by timing your curse words to get past the warning interval.

I can't stress that this be implemented soon enough. An enormous troll came on today totally disrespecting staff members, using a dozen different swear words in one message, with maybe 3 dozen messages sent before a staff member came on and banned the player. The auto swear ban script could be changed to count inappropriate language within a larger time frame. But I think, as suggested, completely censoring the innapropriate language solves this problem and more.

I think the warnings could be sent privately, not publicly.

Giving this suggestion a bump to be implemented soon. With the huge influx of new players came a huge influx of swearing and inappropriate language. Today I have counted many bannings due to players swearing in the chat, resulting in a number higher than average. If this server is being advertised on popular websites that many children see, then Minerealm will be a server that many children will play on. Once again, I cannot stress enough how important that this be implemented as soon as possible.

exactly. If this is implimented there shouldn't be any banning involved.

That would also reduce the stress on Mr Rokkr when he's taking precious time to go through the ban appeals. This would reduce (at least slightly) the number of bans this server has to make, keep the language clean and, for the most part, civilized, and will reduce the potential amount of ban appeals. Also, a server that is free of vulgar language looks good to reviewers and newcomers, which means higher, better ratings!
