An idea that was floating around earlier really stuck with me, so I would like more input. Bascially, the idea is the total reconstruction of Spawn City. We completely tear the entire thing down, and rebuild it from the ground up, so as to give newcomers a solid impression that this is a great server to play on. Please comment here and feel free to msg me on the server if you have any thoughts on this.

unless you have a blueprint, and we completely build the realm, with premade buildings and then make it so no one can remove blocks (like private with visitors)

start with the area behind spawn.

I spent several hours landscaping it the other day. It is prime for reconstruction. Once the back area has some sort of theme then you can start converting the front to match it. Stuff behind spawn is less likely to get grieved anyway since people usually head straight outward.

Fair enough Gl1tch. As for the other concern of it just getting griefed, thats not why this idea was thrown around. The whole area looks like a ghetto. There are personal shops, homes, and random structures that spring up overnight and dissapear a day later. The idea was to make it look nicer and more presentable. Not only this, but these community projects help improve the atmosphere in the server.

Spawn city will either look like some kind of mutating slum thing, or it will be frozen and unchangeable. Either impression is bad, but tbh i think most large servers have the same thing happen so i wouldn't worry about it.

Honestly, i kind of like the crazy slum look. After a while it ends up being pretty impressive by itself, too see so many things that were built and torn down.

I kinda agree, I love the ever-changing features of Spawn City everytime I end up there. New buildings, new features, new areas. It makes it a pretty refreshing place and it's good to take a look around every now and again.

What I do have a problem with though is the unnecessary griefing, like the removal of one block out of a wall, or the completely unnecessary destruction of the wheat farm etc. It's a hard thing to prevent and so really mainly relies upon the vigilance of individual users, should they spot these acts of vandalism.

Double-edged sword I'm afraid. Best bet is to forget about it, hope users can be confident in being vigilant and maybe every so often we'll get a construction party thrown together! There was one a few week ago which ended up in a bunch of us rebuilding and cleaning up Spawn City.

My original position has changed greatly since I posted the origianl topic. I no longer think the leveling and rebuilding of Spawn City is possible, with so many personal homes/shops there. However, periodic runs to rebuild certain things and clean up the area are something I am interested in. Pez's position is one that I agree with, and the ever-changing landscape has become both normal and interesting.
