I know we have all the signs at each spawn giving the rules and such, but if we could have a command to tell all the noobs that ask the all too frequent questions.

It could contain info like:
Credits are the currency of Mine Realm.
You gain 0.5 credits for every block placed/destroyed.
Realms are land 50 blocks x 50 blocks you can purchase for 10,000 credits.
You can build on public realms, realms you own, or are a member of.
We do not teleport players, spawn items, or change the weather/light.

Etc...
This way it could possibly help take some strain off the chat window and people who have to take the time to answer the same questions time and time again. When someone askes one of these types of questions we could just respond with "read the signs at spawn and type /help FAQ". If they still have questions after that then we can step in and help them along.

I know that when Mods/Admins are not on I do try to watch the chat and help noobs with their questions as best I can. It is very irratating with the rate that these questions are asked (not that is the fault with any of the server staff). I believe that if there were another tool that could be used to help cut down on "coddling" each noob with the same questions it would help everyone out.

You may or may not want to impliment something like this, it is just an idea I had the other day. :D

Thank you for your time.

It's a great idea and we actually have a few of those very signs at our spawn in Roanoke. Guess what though. Some newbs, the majority, are just not interested in reading or for that matter doing any kind of work for themselves. They will still ask these very questions even if the answers were the MOTD when they logged into the server.

Afterwards they will annouce that they are new to Minecraft and ask if they can chop down the trees in the garden you spent hours getting just right. <--- My favorite so far.

I am not saying they wont ask, I am saying that when they ask we can just say "type /help FAQ", if they dont want to do that then that would be their fault. If they read it and still have a few detail question so be it. It never hurts to have another tool at your dispossal, and anything that cuts down on the load of questions would be nice.

(and yes most noobs dont bother to read anything)

I think it's a good idea, most people don't bother reading the signs anyway. For first time players I think a message in the chat should tell them "Type /help FAQ to get started!", or something along those lines.

In fact I remember saying this very idea in chat yesterday er so... Nice of you to bring it to the forums, I hope it can be implemented. It would be useful telling a new player to /help faq instead of explaining the same answer all the time...

umm yeah, some times there are idiots that repatedly ask the questions. We tell them what to do and what happens? "Mod, how am I sopposed to know what to do?"etc. I know you're wanting to be polite, but some people are just idiots.
