Well, I truly thank you for considering my suggestion and offering such a hasty resolution. It was more than I was even expecting, and I hope this change is something that everyone will enjoy and not just me or my 2 friends..

Thanks again, also one other thing.. I know there was talk of people using the 'no visitors' thing.. If it really does become a problem, another idea could be to change the limit of people needed to use the feature higher than 2 perhaps, if it really did become an issue later down the road..

In any case thanks again!

Yep, we'll still be leaving it so to disable visitors, you have to have at least 5 members.
However, you'll be able to have it private with just two members.

To throw in my 2 cents, making a realm completely private as in not allowing people to walk in and out seems counter-productive to being on the same server with 50 other people and being able to look at and explore other realms and find people. If you want to be completely private, why not just run your own tiny private server? I could see a small area within a realm being an exclusion area though. As for making realms that get big enough protected/non-modifiable makes perfect sense to stop the griefing though.

Is there an ETA on when the private member requirement will drop to two? Not to rush you or anything. Just haven't seen any time-frame (other than "soon"). :)

Intelli's to do list

fix realm overlapping issues
hold shift, on block, walking forwards (towards zmin) placing blocks = fly kick
2 members to join realm
5 members for private
...
..
.

The list goes on, but this is to show you how soon that change will be made.

It is annoying enough exploring and running into a massive realm that you have to walk around to get by *cough*purelogic*cough*, but if everyone can have private realms without visitors, traveling will become akin to navigating a maze with invisible walls.
This was the logic behind why i originaly objected to private realms, and why i wanted the number high. Everyone hides their stuff and the world becomes boring. In effect its turning the server into many small servers that are each composed of a realm. Unless realms gain a way to interact it removes any incentive to explore or travel.

I'm just wanting to clarify, so to make a realm private i only need 2 members but to turn off visitors i need 5

now with a member that's a donor I'm assuming that for private would still be 2 members but is no visitors then 3???

earlier spritzo mentioned that donors can make it private with only 3, but since its now 2, would the no visitors be lowered for donors?

I don't think anyone is really advocating lowering the member requirement to disable visitors. Frankly, I think disabling of visitors is a rather silly idea to begin with. To my understanding, in a private realm, only realm members may place and destroy objects (is that correct?). Once that is in place, why would you really need to disable visitors? I mean, unless you're super afraid of someone stealing your building designs. Disabling visitors basically removes a great aspect from the game (exploration). People should want to show off their creations. But I digress... barring the removal of visitor disabling, I think the 5 member requirement is a good thing to have for that.

As for my logic behind lowering the private realm requirements, it makes sense in my mind. Realms were created to give members some measure of control within their designated area. It makes sense that the leader should be able to choose who can join and build in his/her realm. Yes, you can remove members you don't want, but it would be easier to just require the invitation in the first place. I still feel that anyone should be able to make their realm private at any time. If my understanding is correct, non-members can still travel through a private realm, so no harm in that. It simply allows a realm leader a little control within the place they choose to build and mine. Also, as I believe someone else mentioned, since griefing is against the rules, why hold back a tool that limits griefing? If any realm could be private regardless of the number of members it has, I bet that it would cut back on the amount of time mods/admins spend dealing with griefing and looting. Which means more playing time for mods/admins and everyone loves that. :) However, in the end, it is not my server and ultimately I will stand by whatever Intelli decides. At any rate, I believe that the two member requirement is an acceptable compromise.
