You may often come across a time where you find someone looting, griefing, being obnoxious, harassing, what have you, and unfortunately you don't present enough proof to have us ban him for it. Well, your rage can now be ventilated through a plugin for Bounty Hunting.
Here's how it works:
You catch a looter in the act and feel that justice must be done. So what do you do? You hire a bounty hunter.
There are two systems and I can't decide which would work better:
System A:
By typing "/setbounty <playername>", a window will appear, asking, "How much are you willing to provide for the bounty?" You then identify what you will give to the player who kills the intended player. Players wishing to view what bounties are set can type "/bountylist" where it will display current bounties and players as well as the reward for killing them.
In order to receive the reward for a bounty, you must type "/bountyhunter <playername>". This will notify both you and the player that you'sa coming after him. You can now kill this player anywhere. You also now ignore his "/realm visitors" setting only if he is a realm leader in his realm. Once dead, the player with the price on his head will drop the prize items (or maybe just auto-place in your inventory). If multiple bounties have been set on this player's head, you by technicality accept all of them, and so receive the reward for each of them.
System B:
Players post in a thread that I'll probably create 5 minutes later anyway, in a format that I provide, who they want dead, why, and for how much. There is no plugin in System B (saves time on Intelli's part). We instead rely on the bountied-player to get mad when he dies and make noise, so we know the damage is done >:). Unless it'd be simple enough to write a plugin that notifies the world of player vs player kills, then that'd work even better. You will have to respect /realm visitors in this System, but again, it's alot simpler to program.
Why do this?
It gives players an alternative to raging for hours on end about how they got looted and can't provide sufficient proof. It could also stimulate some more true PvP action (maybe the guy with a bounty will pay for body-guards? That'd just be awesome). It will also help provide some satisfaction about being looted, knowing that the looter lost something as well. I would also like to see this mature into becoming where someone becomes the player everyone wants killed, or where there is one player that is just a dreaded bounty hunter across the entire map (my money is on cerevox).
Any ideas to add to this, I'll be sure to consider them. This is still of course a very basic concept.
