I didn't like the name tag idea. What happens if the owner quits or is banned? does the mob stay protected for ever?

So here is my idea for animal protection.

Tamed animals (dogs cats and soon horses) are protected from other players while the owner is logged in, and not /pvp. When you want to log out you have to make sure your pet is somewhere safe, like you do with animals now.


Something extra, maybe animals on lassos are also protected the same way?

Unlike the horse suggestion or the name-tag suggestion, this is quite to the point: tamed mobs are protected from random players running up to them and attacking them...unless the player is fighting, in which case the animals act as allies, and ought to be damageable, or if the player is logged out, preventing people from just leaving their animals wherever and having them be protected 24/7. I was about to make this suggestion myself, in fact.

Other npcs will still be able to attack your pets so no afk grinder for you
