Disabling weather client-side would be an unfair advantage because it would allow you to see better than other people, say during non-nether PVP.

If only non-weather PVP happened. Outside of arena fights of course. I'm still inclined to believe that the wilderness should be PvP

Generally, non-nether PVP is very formal/honorable.

I'm sure people would acknowledge this, and probably wait for it to go, regardless of whether or not they had it disabled.

Yes, but that's the nature of PvP. If we wanted strictly honorful PvP, we could just leave it as a toggle, for people to engage and disengage as they wish.

But if you wanted more danged and adventure, make it so areas 250 blocks away from an owned realm (think of them as a castle or stronghold of decency) are PvP and wild. That keeps people from camping EVERY area, but still if you come across people you can be a jerk

Another option may be to drastically modify how weather works.

In real life, for example, it only (typically) rains for a few hours at a time.
That would work out to being like 3-5 minutes of rain/snow every 4-5 hours in minecraft.

This would be awesome How much work would this take?
