If the borders of the map aren't going to be lifted, then the nether should be reset every so often to compensate for the loss of resources that should be infinite in vanilla gameplay. In a completely vanilla game of Minecraft, the only finite resource is end stone. So, if Minerealm wants to remain as vanilla as possible without lifting the map borders, resetting the nether every once in a while is a must.

Making nether brick and glowstone finite resources is modifying the core gameplay of Minecraft far beyond what can be considered vanilla. If you're supportive of a vanilla server, you're supportive of this idea.

If you missed the wipe and the rush the first time? Imo - Tough Luck.

I vote No.
I think that is pretty harsh to say that, i only logged like 2 days after the wipe, and some were already saying that the GS is gone - you do know that the bigger factions and others, had been planning to do this once the wipe happened?

I wouldnt say it was harsh :L

Glowstone was fair game after the wipe - Everyone had equal op to get their hands on it. I got banned due to lag 5 mins after the wipe so I missed it all. I aint fussed - after all, it's only glowstone :L

Some people on the server like me have a life next to playing minecraft.
before I could even log onto minerealm all the glowstone had allready been pillaged by greedy hoarders.

To all those voting no because of 'the server economy', I suspect you belong to those who hoarded all the glowstone right from the start in the hopes of selling it for astronomic prices.

I actually doubt the marketvalue would drop that much if the nether would be reset every month or so.
especially now that it's needed for potions and needs constant replenishing.

let's give everyone a chance to get some glowstone, give everyone a chance to join in the making of potions.

I got a total of 85 glowstone blocks after the wipe and I said no.

Why are you saying that those people don't got a life? Really offensive of you, you seem mad.
Even if you wanted your argument to be valid than people who have hoarded the glowstone should have 2 lives.

How old is the server? I know it just had an anniversary...was that the first anniversary? How many times has the nether been wiped in the history of the server? I'm inclined to vote yes, but not very often. Maybe every 6 months or so? Especially if there aren't going to be any more wipes due to game upgrades. And with ample warning for people who have nether wart farms to harvest their crops without losing what they have planted.

@ Quentijn

If you have not taken part in excessive glowstone hoarding you need not feel adressed by my words.
I'm sorry if I offended you with it.
the point I was trying to make is: people like me don't have time to be around on the server 24/7 and simply because of that I couldn't even get my hands on a sinlge bit of glowstone anymore. I have been told the previous time the map was reset it took 3 months before all the glostone was gone. now it's been like, what? 1.5 -2 days? it's ridiculous.

Again. To all the people who have taken only modest amounts of glowstone during the first hours, I don't blame you. I blame only the ones who have been planning for weeks in advance to rid the nether of resources as soon as they could.

I say no to the current suggestion, but if it was every two to three months, then that wouldn't tank the economy, it would feed it as there could be another stone rush. however the nether should also be limited on the number of resets it could have without the over world being wiped, say 4 nether resets to 1 over-world reset?

Not a bad idea at all.

Personally I think this would be awesome, but not because of the glowstone. Because of the fights and battles it creates. :D
