It actually makes total sense. VR is the social platform of the future and Facebook is a social media company. This puts them on the forefront of the industry. I doubt they will screw with Oculus too much as they're more interested in leveraging the possible uses other than gaming. Things will quiet down and the tech will be branched into multiple uses, and like Instagram, everyone will forget soon enough.

God, I can just see it now, everytime you go to use your oculus rift they'll be a big message blocking the entire interface that'll demand you log into facebook for useless crap like "see what your friends are playing" and you wont be able to do a single thing with it without your entire extended family knowing.

Don't forget all the microtransactions.....
