I was bored and thought, "I wonder if anyone on Minerealm has an odd collection of old books and things" hence why I created this thread. a description of what it is, its age/year it was made and even pictures would be greatly appreciated, I just want to see what you people (if anyone) have. I just got to thinking of it as New Years marked the 112th birthday of one of my favourite books of all time, the Fireside Cyclopedia of Useful Knowledge, Royal Guide to Success and Happiness in Home and Business It was published in 1902 by (I believe) W. E. Scull. It's not my oldest book that's on the top of my mind, but I don't have pictures. I know I have at least one older book, that is a collected works of Edgar Allen Poe from 1892 that I am having professionally restored- it was in an unusable condition.

So as far as I remember I have a 112-year-old book and a 122-year-old book.
I have some other random antiques about I haven't got a date on, but hopefully you (hopefully someone collects antiques) and I can look forward to more posts.

Anyway, that's all for now! n w n

I own a 2000 Mac F4 Cube. While it's not 'antique' technically, in electronics terms it is.

It also runs like a beauty.

I has old stuffs!
i have a bunch of Indian head cents and when i was younger i used to go through rolls of pennies looking for wheat cents (I have hundreds). I also have some older technology thanks to my dad. Such as a 1960's calculator and a few other things. My grandfather served in south pacific during world war 2 and earned a bronze star, however, he never actually picked it up. (that doesn't mean I can't).

I have tons of manual typewriters sitting around my house, and a few automatic/electric ones.
I still use an old Royal to type up IRL books, although I lost the manual so I can't tell you the actual age. I DID, however, pick up a really old typewriter up in Saskatchewan, and it really confused the border guard.
Border Guard: "What's the typewriter for?"
Me: (Quietly to my family) "It's for TYPING."

Just thought I'd revive this old thread with some great news. As an extremely early birthday present, I was gifted another book written by W. E. Scull, this one from 1902. It's not in the best shape, but it's usable. :D
Yet another huge reference book soon after the turn of the century, so I have a couple months of reading ahead of me. :]
I will try to post pictures by tomorrow, if I can manage it into my tight schedule. (And I still need to get pictures of that Poe book, my other two 1902/1903 reference books, my typewriters... Photography party!)
Anyway, I hope someone here still likes old stuff, including this thread. :P
*gazes at collection of old Hardy Boys books* Still need to read those too... I am going to be a busy man in my free time.
