This. If protecting the other tamable mobs (wolves and cats) is off-limits, why wouldn't this be the same?

Well, first of all, the server is already fun, and even if there were no horses whatsoever, it would remain that way.

Second, horses can run fast enough that it's possible to race, explore, or joust on them without needing to worry about attack. Trying to attack a running horse is like chasing after an ice-cream truck.

Well, they already aren't able to despawn. As for the second part, it's rather complicated, but it boils down to the legitimacy of the server. There is no legitimate way to protect saddled horses or pigs in vanilla, and going into someone's pen to kill their mobs is against the rules, so you only need to worry about it when running around with your horse or pig.

Look at it this way: you have a mounted PVPer camping the Nether. The speed of the horse gives him an enormous advantage, but he eventually ends up dying. Then he comes back, remounts his invincible horse, and starts attacking again. Does that sound legit to you?

I can ride pigs; should they, then, be protected? As for the donkeys, if the looting rule applies to them, you can simply contact staff to have the looting player banned, and have it rolled back. If, on the other hand, it is not considered looting, then taking your items on a donkey would simply be a risk that you can decide to take.

Server is supposed to be as close to a vanilla gameplay experience as possible. If you want your horses safe, lock them up somewhere where other players can't get them.

With that being said, I'd maybe consider voting yes on a reasonable animal protection suggestion. However, protecting just horses, and none of the other animals, is ridiculous.

No, that takes out a lot of challenge. I like challenge, this isn't a creative mode server.

:( Cant wait for the horse update... Im going to end up getting a horse and not be able to ride it anywhere without the fear of it being killed by another player. Horses are more of a companion for the player unlike all the other animals that are meant to be killed. Also does this mean players can kill and loot donkeys? Or can players kill and loot horses armor? This would go against the no looting rule, so would this protect donkeys? Why don't we just make it easy and simple. Protect donkeys and horses.

Edit: This may not be to vanilla, but I don't really see any disadvantages in it, and the server has some features already that are not vanilla at all. For a good friendly, non looting and griefing server you have to have plugins that arnt vanilla... In fact plugins themselves arnt vanilla.

What about protecting tamed animals while the player is logged in. If you want to keep it safe you have to lock it up before you log off.

Also if you are pvp enabled then so are your tamed pets.

I don't know why people are so worried about this. In no time they will become over-bred and people will have tons of them. Are you really going to care if you lose one when you have 10?

No other animal is protected. We're allowed to kill them all right staff?
