As for the free games being announced, well if it was prior that's a good thing. I lost interest in the 360 a while back and haven't bothered to keep myself up to date on it.

But people whine enough they get their way. I still think they shouldn't of just completely 180'd but it seems they got lazy and instead of coming up with compromises they decided it was easiest just to wipe it back to 360. So essentially imo the Xbox One is now the Xbox 360¹.
And tbh, it's still not enough for me to renew my live service which I let expire last month.
As far as the free games, those were announced prior to all the features being fully announced so it has nothing to do with trying to pull people back.
